LET ME EXPLAIN…

We here, at the Accetta Institute of Cosmetic Surgery, have performed nearly 600 Natural Breast Augmentations (NBA) over the past five years with over 90% high satisfaction. There is a problem however, 5% are only somewhat satisfied and 5% are not satisfied. If you do the math, 540 of our patients are very happy, 30 are only somewhat happy and 30 ARE NOT HAPPY, two of which have made that very clear on Yelp and Vitals. In many other industries a rating of 90% very satisfied or  5% somewhat satisfied would be considered very very  good. Even in this industry I hope you would agree that these numbers are actually quite good if not excellent.

If you compare these numbers with those women who have had saline or silicone implants, their overall high satisfaction after five years is only 68%.

There are big differences within those women in both categories who ARE NOT HAPPY. LET ME MAKE THIS PERFECTLY CLEAR… the only downside to an unsuccessful NBA is the breasts are too small and need more fat. The downside to implants are multiple including but not limited to rupture, scarring , migration, pain, asymmetry etc. To me this is a no brainer. Approximate ten percent need a second fat transfer and if they do this , the high satisfaction goes over 99% and then the patient IS DONE FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE! The same can not be said for implants.

Despite these overwhelming good numbers compared with implants, 5% of my patients who fit into the category of needing a second fat transfer did not do so and are not happy, a couple of which as mentioned above have made that publicly clear. This is unfair since every consent for NBA states very clearly that a SECOND TRANFER IS SOMETIMES NECESSARY.  Across the country, the success of the procedure varies greatly for both obvious and also not so obvious reasons.

The first and most important key to success is the SURGEONS EXPERIENCE.  In our first series of 100 patients, one third did great, one third did OK and one third did poorly. In our last series of 100 patients, 95% did very well, three did OK, and only two did poorly (but even those two would have done very good if they would have had the second transfer.

The second most important key to success is THE QUALITY OF THE FAT itself. Older patients, over fifty, and smokers do not do as well as those under 50 and non-smokers.
